Challenge 24

Our next Ghoulish challenge for all you kitties is to scrap a urban legend or ghost story. Maybe one of your favorites, or it could be something passed down from generation to generation. It doesn't have to be scary if you don't want it to be. The second part of this challenge is to use sheet music.

Our sponsor for this fiendish challenge is Coordinates Collections.

New Mojo Girl

Welcome a new member to our dt Dani Johnston. She is very very talented. I know you will love her just as much as we do.

1. name: Dani Johnston

2. What is your Day job? I am currently a full time student but I also photograph weddings part time.

3. Do you have a spouse children..pets? I'm married to my best friend Neil - I've known him since I was 11 years old. We don't have any kids yet, but we have three furbabies that drive us crazy enough!

4. Do you have a blog that you regularly post on? If so, what is the link:yep, love blogging. http://danijohnston.typepad.com/dj

5. How long have you been scrapbooking? I guess about a year and half, but before that I did a lot of art journaling and when I was younger I kept a giant scrapbook - lots of cut out photos and shiny stickers! :)

6. Where do you find your inspiration for layouts? Sometimes I hear a song or a quote from a movie and I just have to scrap it. Maybe a photo that I love or scrapping an event is important. Or, I'll get inspired from magazine ads, a new technique or product. It really just depends on the layout, lol! The internet is my favorite place to inspired, I love all the communities out there and how everyone brings great ideas and inspiration to the table.

7. What is your must-have item on a layout (other than the necessities)?I really love using my stapler - something is pretty much always stapled on my pages. Colored staples are the very best. Lately I've been trying to play more with paint and try some new things with it. I also really love using color. Color inspires me so much.

8. What would you say your scrapping style is? What is your favorite technique? Hmmmm.... I guess my style is just... haphazard? I tend to just do what I want and at the end if I don't like it, I'm not afraid to dump it and start over! I try to have some sort of idea in my mind, but if I get too attached to that then I know I'll be bummed if it's not "just right" so I try not to plan too much. My favorite technique? Probably... hmmm... is paint flicking a technique? It's one of my favorite ways to get paint on a page! I also keep every tiny piece of paper I have left over and store them all in a box - I love using tiny paper bits here and there.

9. Can you describe your scrapping process? If I'm starting with a song lyric, quote or I know my journaling already then I'll search for a photo that goes along with it. I may be wanting to scrap about a photo itself, either way I'm going to print out the photo. Then I grab some supplies, they're normally piled up all around me so I just sorta grab things and put them together and mess with colors and things until I have some idea of what I'm going to do. Then I start by building up my background, either layering paper, painting, distressing, etc. I'll figure out where I want my photo - and I may build some other stuff up around it. I don't usually glue anything down until I've built a layout I like. When I like it, I'll glue it all down then maybe add a title or not. Usually when I feel close to finished I'll add my journaling which can sometimes get me in trouble - I really should try to figure out where I'm going to fit it in before adhering anything! Actually, this may or may not be very accurate of how I scrapbook, it really is quite a mess, I'm having a hard time describing it! Somehow at the end of it I end up with something I love! :D

Challenge 23

As fall moves in and summer is quickly on its way out one of my fav holidays is fast approaching. Halloween has all the fun of being a kid again. Decorated front porches, haunted houses, wonderful costumes and tons of candy! The only time of year you can pretend to be something you aren't. Our challenge for you this time around is to scrap a fav Halloween costume. Maybe it wasn't one you wore it could be someone else or maybe it is one you had your eye on since you were a kid and your mom wouldn't let you be it. Let's say costumes aren't your cup of tea...Well we have a alternative for you. Scrap your fav horror movie or Halloween program. The second part of the challenge is to make your own embellishment.

The sponsor this time around is a wonderful stamp company called Pink Persimmon. Their stamps are so adorable! Who could resist?!

Guest and Winner!

Our guest for this time around is the ultra fabulous Amy Tan! She not only makes wonderfully wicked shirts but her scrappin is equally wicked! Here are some facts about Amy.

1. Name Amy Tan(gerine)

2. What is your day job? My name is Amy Tan but my company name is Amy Tangerine. The main aspect of my company for the past 6 years has been a line of crafty women's tee shirts sold in high-end boutiques and departments stores. We've sold to Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Barney's NY Japan. Currently our main focus is the boutique business in resort areas and we also have a line of childrens' tees that are sold at celebrity favorite, Kitson Kids. I'm a fashionista at www.Scrapinstyletv.com and a contributing design team member for American Crafts, and love the balance of work and play.

3. Do you have a spouse/children/pets? I have 2 Jack Russell Terriers that are my kids for now. Buster is 3 1/2 and Bamboo is 2 1/2. Buster basically showed up at our doorstep and was on his way to the shelter when we took him in with open arms. Bamboo was given to us as a gift a year later when she was just 7 weeks old. Calm and cool as a cucumber, Buster is a wonderfully talented little rascal, while Bamboo is a typically hyper JRT.

4. Do you have a blog that you regularly post on? www.amytangerine.blogspot.com

5. How long have you been scrapbooking? A year and half

6. Where do you find your inspiration for layouts? My inspiration comes from my mood, the photos and the products I have on hand. For as long as I can remember, I loved arts & crafts and have been addicted to cutting stuff out of magazines for ages. I love getting new magazines in the mail and cutting them up, as well as new products either in the mail or from fun scrapbooking stores.

7. What is your must-have item on a layout (other than the necessities)? I'm into unexpected little details, whether it be some random stitch or sticker, it's fun to look at a page and see something a bit quirky.

8. What would you say your scrapping style is? What is your favorite technique? My style is usually colorful, a bit random with a twist. My favorite technique changes frequently, but I like clustering goodies together and adding just a little bit of embroidery to my pages.

9. Can you describe your scrapping process? A delightful mess in the making. I get inspired by a photo (or photos) and by papers and products. Then I just start layering and then use rub ons and stickers and fun embellishments.

10. Where can we see more of your work (online galleries, etc.) http://www.scrapinstyletv.com/profile_4301.html

Now for the winner! This layout was just beautiful! We loved all the bits and colors!
